Job Summary:
We are seeking an innovative Research Coordinator to join our Nashville CARES team! In this position, you will support the implementation and management of research activities related to the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) Grant. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the smooth execution of research operations, data collection, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder coordination. The Research Coordinator will work closely with the Research Director, Principal Investigators, and interdisciplinary teams—including clinicians, data analysts, and community stakeholders—to advance patient-centered outcomes research across multiple regions in the Southern United States.

What You’ll Do:
Project Coordination & Support
- Assist in the development, execution, and monitoring of PCORI-funded research projects, ensuring adherence to project timelines and deliverables.
- Coordinate day-to-day research operations, including scheduling meetings, tracking milestones, and maintaining detailed project documentation.
- Ensure compliance with PCORI guidelines, institutional policies, and federal regulations for human subjects research.
Data Management & Compliance
- Facilitate data collection, entry, and management, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of research data.
- Work with the Director, data analysts, and investigators to ensure high-quality data reporting and integrity.
- Maintain research databases and oversee secure data storage in compliance with IRB and PCORI requirements.
- Assist with the preparation of research protocols, consent forms, and regulatory documents for IRB submission and grant reporting.
Stakeholder & Community Engagement
- Coordinate communications with community partners, patient advocacy groups, and study participants.
- Assist in organizing community engagement activities, meetings, and research dissemination efforts.
- Ensure the research remains patient-centered and aligns with community needs.
Grant & Administrative Support
- Assist with grant reporting, financial tracking, and budgeting in collaboration with the Research Director.
- Support manuscript and grant proposal development by conducting literature reviews, compiling references, and formatting research reports.
- Prepare presentation materials, progress reports, and summaries for leadership, funding agencies, and stakeholders.
Key Research Phases & Responsibilities
- Conduct surveys and focus groups across multiple organizations in the Southern Region of the United States.
- Analyze findings to assess factors affecting research quality.
- Gather data through surveys and interviews.
Implications for the Research Coordinator Role
- Assist in designing and administering surveys and focus groups.
- Support data collection and analysis across multiple research sites.
- Facilitate Delphi method consultations and Charrette discussions.
- Manage documentation and ensure compliance with PCORI guidelines.
- Help finalize and disseminate the research findings.
What You’ll Need:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Services Research, Social Sciences, or a related discipline).
- 2+ years of experience in research coordination, preferably in health-related studies or clinical research. Prior experience in HIV, sexual health, or public health-related research is strongly preferred, as is experience in community outreach and engagement with underserved populations.
- Experience with PCORI-funded research or community-based participatory research (CBPR) is a plus.
- Experience with data collection and management tools (e.g., REDCap, Qualtrics, SPSS, SAS, or R).
- Familiarity with IRB processes, research ethics, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
- Commitment to health equity, patient-centered outcomes, and ethical research practices.
