Position: Full Time Regular—Exempt
Supervisor: Controller
Summary: Nashville CARES is a leading non-profit agency in Middle Tennessee seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant who is looking to make an impact in the community. This position reports to the Controller. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Excel, account reconciliation, generating financial statements, recording entries, and managing month-end close processes.
Core Responsibilities:
- Assist Controller in reviewing entries and transactions input by other staff to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Perform regular reconciliations of accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Record financial transactions and maintain the general ledger
- Manage and execute month-end close processes, ensuring all financial data is reported
- Assist with audit preparations and coordinate with external auditors as needed
- Ensure all financial transactions comply with relevant laws and regulations
- Work closely with other departments to ensure financial data is complete and accurate
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a senior role
- Advanced proficiency in Excel
- Strong knowledge of account reconciliation and financial statement preparation
- Experience with recording entries and performing month-end close processes
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines
- Valid Tennessee Driver’s License, vehicle, and automobile liability insurance to facilitate local travel required for client/agency related business.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or CMA certification is a plus
- Experience with accounting software
- Experience in a nonprofit accounting setting is helpful but not required
